Our Community
Six decades of tradition – and still growing every day.
At St. George’s, community is a way of life. Our families, teachers, and staff work together to create a nurturing environment that inspires learning and builds lasting relationships. Since 1966, we’ve known that it takes a village to raise a child.

Yearly Highlights
From holiday parties to fundraising galas to celebrations of our Episcopal roots, there’s always something to look forward to at St. George’s.
Our History
In 1950, Bishop John Hines encountered an opportunity. His young congregation had recently purchased property in North Austin, and he needed a building. Hines found a surplus army chapel for sale from Bastrop’s Camp Swift and arranged for its purchase and relocation – St. George’s was born.
As the parish grew, new ministries developed. A preschool began to bud in 1964.
Launched in 1966 by Nora Garcia Loran, St. George’s Episcopal School was one of the first Austin preschools to feature a European (or play-based) model of early childhood education.
St. George’s has grown from just a one-room daycare into a NAEYC-Accredited Early Childcare Center, serving 120 families year-round on our 4-acre campus.

St. George’s Episcopal Church
As Episcopalians, it comes naturally to love our neighbors. Our favorite ones are always nearby.
We’re grateful to serve our community with support from our parish partners, St. George’s Episcopal Church. From children’s ministries to outreach programs, we stand proudly with our Episcopal family.
